Bangpūtys - Windblower god

God of the sea, storms and winds, owner of the waves.

His sons – the four winds: Rytys (East Wind), Pietys (South Wind), Šiaurys (North Wind) and Vakaris (West Wind).

A stout winged man with two bearded faces, with a kock on his head.

In his left hand he used to have a fish and in his right hand – a barrel.

Grumpy and hard to deal with, can cause storms and sink ships.

Sometimes he can bring back you ship or sunken treasure – for example your wedding ring.

Bangpūtys shows up as a wind, storm or deadly waves when fisherman quarel, swear, whistle, fish in the night and disturb him.

He gets angry when one kils a seal or a dolphin, when the sea is poluted.

Bangpūtys has his realm in the sea, in the deepest parts of it. Border for his power is edge of the land – the shore.
